Cyber Security Mergers & Acquisitions - April 2021

Cybersecurity M&A activity in 2021 continues apace with the acquisition of Proofpoint by Thoma Bravo being the largest ever recorded at $12.3 billion. 

Upon completion of the transaction, Proofpoint will become a private company and will no longer be listed on any public market. Thoma Bravo’s significant security and operational expertise will help to accelerate the Company’s continuing growth. 

Here is a full summary of cybersecurity mergers and acquisitions reported during April:-​

• Accenture, the professional services company, announced its agreement to acquire Openminded, a French cybersecurity services company.
• Thoma Bravo, a private equity firm, has agreed to purchase Proofpoint for $12.3 billion in the biggest cybersecurity acquisition of all time.
• WhiteSource, an open source security firm, has acquired Diffend, an innovative software supply chain security service.
• Mastercard is acquiring Ekata, a digital identity verification company, for $850 million.
• Entrust, a trusted identity, payments and data protection solutions provider, has acquired WorldReach Software, a provider of digital identity and document verification solutions.
• Coalfire Systems has acquired Neuralys, a penetration testing management platform.
• Rapid7 has acquired Velociraptor, an open source platform focused on endpoint monitoring, digital forensics, and incident response.
• Altron, a South African tech group, has acquired Lawtrust, a digital signatures services company, from Etion for ZAR 245 million, subject to approval from the Competition Commission.
• Performanta has acquired Identity Experts to extend its security capabilities further across the Microsoft portfolio.
• Boxphish, a specialist in cyber awareness training, has completed the acquisition of Purplephish, also a cyber awareness training company.
• Atos has signed an agreement to acquire cv cryptovision GmbH, a leader in state-of-the-art cryptographic products and solutions for securing digital identities.
• 1Password, an enterprise password management firm, has completed the acquisition of SecretHub, a company that specializes in secrets management solutions.
• OneTrust, provider of  privacy, security, data governance, and compliance services, has completed the acquisition of Convercent, an ethics and compliance software leader.
• Keyfactor, PKI-as-a-service and crypto-agility solutions provider, is merging with PrimeKey, a PKI and signing solutions provider, under the Keyfactor brand.
• Zscaler is acquiring Trustdome as part of a deeper push into cloud security posture management.
• AdEPT Technology Group, the UK managed services and telecommunications provider, has acquired Datrix, a supplier of networking, communications and cybersecurity solutions.
• Everbridge, a critical event management company has acquired xMatters, a provider of incident response management services.
• Fifosys has expanded its reach in UK with the acquisition of Enforce Technology, a cybersecurity and cloud managed service provider.
• Wipro, the IT services firm, will acquire Ampion, an Australia-based provider of cyber security, DevOps and quality engineering services.
• Cofense, the phishing detection and response (PDR) solutions company, has acquired Cyberfish, a provider of phishing protection services powered by advanced Machine Learning (ML) technology.
• StrikeForce Technologies, a cyber technology company that reduces the risk of identity theft and data breaches, announced the acquisition of Cybersecurity Risk Solutions LLC (CRS), a provider of innovative cyber, privacy and data protection solutions for business and home.
• Logicalis, a leading international IT solutions and managed services provider, announces the acquisition of a majority stake in Áudea, a company which specialises in cybersecurity and regulatory compliance.
• AGC Networks Ltd (AGC) has completed the acquisition of a majority stake in Z Services HQ DMCC, UAE (Z Services HQ), a cybersecurity cloud services provider.
• Cipherpoint Ltd has completed the 100% acquisition of Brace168 Pty Ltd, making the innovative IT and cybersecurity solutions business a subsidiary and integral part of Cipherpoint.
• Acronis, a global leader in cyber protection, announced the acquisition of Synapsys, its long-time partner located in Cape Town, South Africa.
• Converge Technology Solutions Corp., a national platform of regionally-focused Hybrid IT solution providers in the US and Canada, has completed the acquisition of Dasher Technologies, Inc.
• Dynamic Quest has completed the acquisition of Integrated Solutions, a Birmingham, Alabama-based MSP and provider of managed IT, disaster recovery and cybersecurity services.
