Corporations Drowning In The Data Flood (£)
All businesses have a major problem waiting for a solution but, is it something that most Boards never talk about. The storage of data, its costs and lack of use is a problem and an opportunity awaiting a solution.
Enterprise Content Management (ECM) is the space where most commercial and operational out-of-date data is kept. ECM is all about storing and managing unstructured data such as emails, data, video and audio records. Lots of businesses have masses of stored data and the spaces for storage is reducing.
The problem for most organisations is often unknown even though they are spending a lot on storage. However this is not just the storage issue but is also a real analysis issue, as most of the stored data has not been analysed. If this were sensibly done to get a clear picture on what it contains both from a secure and opportunistic perspective the relevance of the data would become obvious and it would change the organisations future. Employing the ECM system successfully means that the organisation will get a much clearer understanding of its market space and the way in which both internally and externally it is operating.
